TREBIŽAT

Trebizat, the river of seven names, is located in the south-western region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is part of the Neretva basin and it is a major tributary of the Neretva.Trebižat is 51 km / 31.7 mi. long and is the second largest losing stream in Bosnia and Herzegovina that drains into the underground and reappears several times. In terms of length, it comes right after the Trebišnjica River which is the largest river of this kind in the world and also a tributary of the Neretva watershed. The best way to experience this meandering river of crystal clear water and many cascades is to go to Canoe Safari, tourist attraction organized by Tajna prirode Association in Capljina, the only one that provides this type of service in the area.

In the initial part of the Canoe Safari route the river is quiet and as you go towards the end of the route it begins to cascade and becomes more and more exciting. Water temperature during summer months is about 20°C/68°F which makes it refreshing but no too cold even for those sensitive to temperature differences. There is practically no age limit for doing Canoe Safari. It is perfect for those looking for some adrenalin as well as for those seeking to relax and be one with nature. You will encounter many fish and birds, pass many travertine cascades and enjoy the wonderful harmony of the river and nature surrounding it.
